I studied art at the Ohio State University and acquired an BFA despite my best efforts.
Im not sure studying art in such a structured manner has been a help or a hinderance.
The art I like to do now tends to be raw and undisciplined, if it works. Over the years I have done hundred and hundreds of paintings but I have very few to show for it.
I become disillusioned with them, find them silly or fake and I paint over them or destroy them. (Although I have to be in a foul mood to destroy them because I like the texture you get from painting over a painting about a million times).
I do this because I feel they have failed to live up to a truth. Don't ask me what that is. I don't have a clue.
